WRITING A LETTER TO THE EDITOR

The Coalition encourages you to have your voice heard in determining Kentucky’s future. One way is to write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Below are a few tips to writing a successful letter:

• Be clear and concise
• Keep your letter to one topic
• State your main point in the first sentence, then include additional points to support your main point
• Keep your letter to 250 words or less due to space restrictions
• Include your contact information, including address, phone number and e-mail so your local paper can confirm you sent the letter

To find contact information for your local or state newspaper go to KY Press.com's newspaper profile page.
