Issues For Our Commonwealth

• Education: Education is an important building block to greater job opportunities, better health and enhanced quality of life. We must be prepared to make needed changes to return our commonwealth to the ranks of leaders in providing programs to our students in high-quality facilities.

• Economic Development: With enhanced opportunities, jobs and smart investments, Kentuckians can experience a quality of life that has been impeded by outdated policies that discourage economic development.

• Energy: Kentucky has made some strides in promoting opportunities for our value-added energy sector to grow, including the energy policy passed by legislators in 2007. We oppose legislative or regulatory change that would seek to hinder Kentucky’s role as a key source of domestic energy and encourage 21st century developments to ensure energy efficiency.

• Health Care: A key component to improving the quality of life and increasing economic opportunity is a healthy population. The Kentucky Opportunity Coalition, Inc., believes by empowering consumers and strengthening their relationships with providers and doctors, Kentuckians will move forward as a healthier state. In return, this will promote an efficient use of a quality and affordable health care system in Kentucky.

• Government Efficiency: The Kentucky Opportunity Coalition, Inc., believes that greater transparency regarding how our state dollars are being generated and spent is just one step to making government more efficient and fiscally responsible.
