Breckinridge County Road Garage
Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at 6:25AM When is $250,000 greater than $350,000? When the prevailing wage is involved.
News out of Breckinridge County is that the Fiscal Court will rebid its county road department garage. Why? Because the original bid came in at $350,000, which is over $250,000 - at which point state prevailing wage requirements kick in.
County Judge Executive Ray Powers told the fiscal court that the architect on the project will redo the project's requirements to better ensure that it the next bid comes in under the $250,000 figure.
So, the good folks at the county road department will continue to work away at the Stoy Smith Welding building so long as it takes for the local court to develop a plan to avoid paying the artifically inflated wage hoisted upon it by Frankfort. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?
